Tag Rugby Festival
Year 6 attended a tag rugby festival at Birchwood High School on 3rd October. They had a fantastic time and were a credit to the school. We hear that it also inspired some children to take it up outside of school.
Birchwood Games
Year 4 attended an afternoon offering varied and mostly new activities, run by Birchwood High School. The children took part in three different activities over the course of the afternoon, including cheerleading, kwik cricket and basketball. We were really proud with our well our children listened to the coaches, joined in, and especially proud of the children performing their cheerleading routine at the end of the afternoon!

Each team played 6 matches. This was tough as the schools were really experienced with tag rugby, however Thorley Hill did fantastically. The tournament wasn't scored but we all had great fun.

Spring term competitions
We sent teams to represent Thorley Hill at Netball, Athletics and Gymnastics competitions over the Spring term.
Basketball
A team of 7 Year 6's represented Thorley Hill at a Basketball competition at Birchwood. The team played fantastically and came third in their group. The teams then played off against the other teams of the same rank, coming joint first of the third placed schools. Unfortunately we finished in second place in this group due to the number of baskets scored, but the team thoroughly enjoyed themselves and did us all proud!
Football Tournament
Year 4 played fantastically in the football tournament on 19th June. We took 2 teams, one of which came 2nd overall in their group following 5 matches. The highlight was a Thorley Hill win of 6-0, helped with a hat-trick from Harry. Well done team Thorley Hill!
Cricket Competition
Well done to our Year 5 cricket team who represented the school at Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club just before half term. Although we didn't win the match, our team played fantastically against others who had put out teams of Year 6 children. An all-girls team are heading to the same competition in a few weeks time.
Speed Stacking Competition
Year 4 entered a digital competition of 'Speed stacking', where they had to complete a sequence of cup stacking as fast as possible. They all practised and recorded their best times, which were then sent off and ranked with other Bishop's Stortford schools. I am very proud to announce that team Thorley Hill ranked in first place! The children with the fastest times will be receiving certificates and a special mention in assembly, but unfortunately are unable to attend the county finals due to their trip to Mersea.
Dance Festival
On the 23rd April a group of Year 1 and Year 2 children went to Birchwood High School to take part in a dance festival. They learnt a whole dance routine to 'Under the Sea' from 'The Little Mermaid' in just one afternoon and confidently performed it to a large audience of parents.
Cheerleading Competition
On the 19th March our cheerleading team, the 'Thorley Hill Tornadoes' presented a routine at a local competition. They were fantastic and won 2nd place, only narrowly missing out on 1st!
Year 3 & 4 Gymnastics Competition
Congratulations to the Year 2 and Year 3 Gymnastic teams who participated in a competition at the Bishop's Stortford Gymnastic Club on 28th Feb and 7th March.
The Year 3 results have just been confirmed with our team coming in 4th place. Congratulations Team Thorley Hill!
